Education in Dhofar , in the past and at present

Every knows that that education is like the air and the water for everyone . It is one of the main human rights that everyone should get . So, every country is interested in education for all its citizens . Education is the way to glory and prosperity , it leads to development and progress . The government in the sultanate of Oman realizes this and is taking great steps to spread education among the Omani people . There are many differences between the past and now in almost everything specially education .

Before the revolution in 1970 , education like anything else was so neglected and most people were not interested in it . The Quranic schools and workshops schools were the only means of education in oman until in 1970 . These kinds of schools spread in most villages . For example , there were the school of Masjeed Al Khor in Muscat , school of Zawawi in Muscat and The school of Sheikh Rashid Bin Aziz Alkasibi ( in his own home ) .

In addition to that , there were no governmental schools for girls . Only a few girls could learn themselves . There were no facilities for education from any kind . The few schools which were found were very poor in everything . So, we can say that before the Dhofar Rebellion , education had no effect and the Omani people were deprive of many services specially education .

Education has been changing a lot after his majesty Sultan Qabus Bin Said the ruled country in July 1970 . Education has become the main objective of the blessed renaissance '' We felt it was necessary to extend the first efforts to disseminate education '' . First, education became free and available to all people in Oman . The national education program expanded rapidly during the 1970s and 1989s . the number in students in schools , governmental and private is increasing quickly . In addition to that , the ministry of education began development  work on basic education program to replace the three level General education system . Basic education is organized into two cycles , the first cycle covers grades 1 to 4 and the second one covers grades 5 to 6 . There are two years of Post –Basic education system that has been introduced in 1998/1999 . Moreover, all the facilities are available in each school in the Sultanate . pupils and students get anything they want at schools . Briefly , we can say that there are remarkable differences between schools before and after 1970 .

In short ,before Dhofar rebellion , there were no single university . None knew anything about the higher education . After the renaissance revolution, there are a lots of university was founded . There are students who student  study in the Arab countries and students who get scholarships to study in Britain and America . There are six collages of applied sciences under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher education . One of them in Salalah . The ministry of manpower supervises the collages of technology all over Oman . There are a lots of private collages . Also the universities and collages are well-equipped and have all the facilities .

Finally , it is very obvious that the Dhofar rebellion has the whole favour that makes education developed  and is still developing . Dhofar have become one of the most important governorate in education . Every year a lots of students graduate from its university and colleges . Thanks to His Majesty who is the leader of the revolution of renaissance

After finish study in school , Where best continue study at college or start working immediately ?

Life is difficult and many people struggle in it .As for students I think if they finish their education and do their best in their schools and universities they will have a good position in the society .

One question arises and that is should students finish their studies first? or should they work and then finish their studies ?

I myself feel that students should finish their study first and then get a job and that is because when they finish their study, they will be able to study in depth and detail .

On the other hand , If students work and study at the same time they will not do well because there is proverb says" Aman with seven crafts is with out craft". However , Some students are enforced to work and study at the same time and some of them become leaders of the society
